art and education links programme

The Arts and Education Links Programme is a scheme in West Dunbartonshire that supports professional artists in our area schools.

All ages and all art forms have formed part of the pilot project in its first three years of existence.

From national companies to individual artists, the Programme has linked small and large projects to the curriculum and creative learning experiences for schools, teachers and pupils alike. Expressive arts subjects have benefited from new input and not-so-obvious approaches have been used to illustrate parts of the science, PE, citizenship and better behaviour agendas in local schools.

The Arts and Education Links Programme team comprises 8 members of staff, all working to support educational National Priority No 5, that concerned with creativity, ambition, confidence and learning for life.

The projects described here detail some of the approaches taken by the artists in schools.
