Articulate was a creative project that used arts participation to impact on another area of curriculum study. We used drama and theatre skills, especially playwrighting to explore and develop skills within English language. The project was a partnership between the Arts and Education Links Programme, the Traverse Theatre and the pupils and teachers of four primary schools and one secondary school in the Vale of Leven.
The project was funded by the Scottish Executive's Future Learning and Teaching, the Scottish Arts Council and West Dunbartonshire Council.
The anthology of all the work produced by pupils is available to view or download and we have selected a few sections of a DVD produced to document the Articulate process. Both the anthology and DVD are available on request by e-mailing eona.craig@west-dunbarton.gov.uk
Strathclyde University's Quality in Education unit will fully evaluate the project over the autumn and a report on their findings will be available here in December 2005.
