fortress hanging

This cluster wide project involved primary 7 pupils from five schools in the Dumbarton Academy cluster. The pupils worked over a two day period, in Drumkinnon Tower at Loch Lomond Shores.

On the first day the pupils explored the venue with sketchbooks. In the morning we drew the public art, buildings and immediate scenery. In the afternoon we made a large scale drawing from Drumkinnon Tower looking down Loch Lomond.

On day two we used the sketches to plan the wall hangings. The pupils looked at perspective in relation to Japanese and western art.

The pupils worked in acrylics and painted on sized canvas paper three metres long. Each of the wall hangings depict a different scene around Lomond Shores. The paintings are currently on show in Drumkinnon Tower.
