Culminating with visits in August by the Kakatsitsi master drummers and singers from Ghana, the project introduces African drumming and singing to the participants and showed its social importance in the life of a West African community.
The opportunity to meet and work with native African people in such a positive
environment has helped the young participants begin to develop
the skills, attitudes and expectations necessary to prosper
in a changing society.
The project also encouraged the development of artistic skills
in design, practical craft and music.
"I've never really known, such enthusiasm about an activity we've
been doing and I've heard a lot of people who've been involved
describe how fantastic it's been for them."
