This drawing project involved 20 children from primary 6 and 7 Carleith Primary. It was based in the Viewing Platform in The Lighthouse, Centre of Architecture and Design, Glasgow. This space has incredible views over Glasgow’s rooftops around Buchanan Street and Central Station and the views would be the key imagery used over the two days.
On each of the days we used a variety of techniques and mediums to create collaborative and individual drawings on large and small scales, exploring line, tone, mark making, texture and pattern.
The children worked individually in the morning and as we created the drawings we tried to identify and place the buildings we saw. Once back in the Viewing Platform we made a large scale collaborative horizontal drawing.
The drawings produced were fantastic – fresh, intuitive, and accurate.
